For the “Sweet and Spicy Sauce,” use sugar:soy sauce:mirin:sake in a 1:1:1:1 ratio.
If you add vinegar at half that amount (0.5 ratio), it becomes “Nanban Vinegar Sauce”♪

How to make

  • Prepare the light-style fried chicken in advance.
  • Put all the ● seasonings into a frying pan and heat them, making sure the sugar dissolves completely.
  • When the bubbles become larger and the sauce thickens, remove it from the heat and check the consistency.
  • Add the fried chicken!
  • Once the sauce coats the chicken evenly, it’s ready♪

If you want to make Nanban vinegar sauce, just add 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar together with the ● seasonings!

Tips

  • If you want to increase the amount of sauce, you can make all the ● seasonings 2 tablespoons each (for a glossy, rich finish♡).
  • Be careful not to reduce the sauce too much! It’s best to toss the fried chicken when the sauce has just thickened slightly.
  • Simply adding vinegar lets you turn it into a Nanban-style vinegar sauce! Feel free to adjust to your taste♪
